Last Wednesday evening Town were held to a 1-1 draw by Teignmouth thereby ending their fifteen match winning league run. A Dan Boere strike had given Town a twenty first minute lead which was cancelled out eight minutes later. Despite taking control in the second half Town were unable to find a second goal and on reflection a draw was a fair result.

Against “The Tots” Town were quickly into their stride and Adam Fowler saw one shot fizz past the far post and another well saved by Dan Woods in the visitor’s goal. As Town kept driving forward Jamie Moore broke the deadlock on nineteen minutes. Picking up a loose ball he drove through the centre of the defence and whilst his first effort was well saved he reacted quickest to force the rebound home.

Six minutes later and Town doubled their lead. After a spell of sustained pressure Alex Greening set up Dan Boere and Town’s leading goalscorer made it thirteen goals in his last nine games.

At the start of the second half Andrew Thomson and Ace High had chances to extend Town’s lead but both narrowly missed the target when well placed. Town were not to be denied and their third goal effectively sealed victory on fifty eight minutes. A driven corner was forced goalwards but as the defender attempted to clear the ball rebounded off his own man and into the net.

As the conditions deteriorated and the pitch began to resemble a ploughed field the game became more stretched and Town had Fowler to thank for two goal line clearances and the visitors struck the post in added time.

The next week continues to bring important games. On Saturday Town travel to Galmpton who will still be smarting over their recent 7-1 defeat.

Then, on Wednesday evening it is the semi-final of the Devon Premier Cup when Town meet Stoke Gabriel at Buckland Athletic looking to repeat their recent Throgmorton Cup success (kick off 7.30pm).
