It was a case of so near, yet so far for Exmouth Town and their supporters as the teams marvellous FA Vase run came to an end at Southern Road.
A whopping attendance of 172 got value for money as Town gave Toolstation league side Sherborne a real run for their money before being edged out by the odd goal in three.
Town got a boost elsewhere through with news of a heavy defeat for table topping Teignmouth Town.
Totnes and Dartington won their delayed Graddon Vending Devon Premier Cup tie with a 4-2 win over Chaddlewood Miners and so will be the opposition for Exmouth Town in the next round of that competition on Saturday, November 3rd.
Back in the South West Peninsula league there was a 4-3 success for Budleigh Salterton at Alphington and that leaves the Robins one of three East Devon sides sitting in the top five of the Eastern Division!
The day’s results in the Eastern Division:
Alphington 3:4 BUDLEIGH; Axminster Town 5:1 Exeter Civil Service; Plymstock 4:6 Okehampton; Sidmouth 1:2 Galmpton; Stoke Gabriel 6:0 Teignmouth Town.
Make sure of your copy of the Exmouth Journal, out next on Thursday, October 18.
