Exmouth Town embark on an exciting new era on Saturday when they travel to Tavistock to begin life in the South West Peninsula League Premier Division.
It’s unchartered territory for the Southern Road side who had mixed fortunes in pre-season matches last week first brushing aside Fresha League top flight outfit St Martins, beating them 5-1 on Wednesday night, they came unstuck in the SWP League Charity Vase meeting with Godolphin at Ivybridge last Sunday.
Town were beaten 4-1 by last season’s Western Division champions who will also begin their top flight career on Saturday, in their case at home to St Austell.
Karl Rickard scored the Town goal and Richard Pears’ men were all square at 1-1 at half-time before falling way after the break.
Town are quickly back in action after Saturday’s opener for they travel to Launceston for game two in their league campaign next Tuesday (7.30pm).
The Southern Road faithful will get their first look at Town in home league action a week on Saturday (August 17) when Liskeard Athletic are the visitors.
