Exmouth re-ignited their Francis Clark Devon League title bid with a powerful show at relegation threatened Sandford that ended with them banking a full house of 20 points form a nine wicket triumph.
The weather played its part in proceedings, and not for the first time this season!
The match was reduced to 30-overs per side with Sandford batting first and being restricted to 153-6.
Trevor Anning bowled superbly to return figures of 2-11 from six overs and George Greenway also bagged a brace of wickets.
The early wicket of Max Curtis gave the Creedy Park side some hope. However, that merely brought to the wicket Sandford old-boy David Lye who went on to score an imperious unbeaten 92 as he and Barney Huxtable (40no) saw their side to a comfortable and comprehensive victory.
With Bovey Tracey losing heavily at home to Sidmouth it means that The Maer men now sit just six behind Bovey Tracey and four above third placed Sidmouth in what is now clearly a three-team battle for the title.
It could not be tighter for the next time Exmouth play, this coming Saturday (August 11), they entertain Bovey Tracey when a home victory would have dreams of a title win very much on tjhen minds of The Maer ground faithful.
