This coming Sunday (September 9) sees the inaugural event for Velo Vintage in Exmouth and it already seems to be a great success for cycling and for encouraging visitors into the area, with tickets for the Cycle West – Velo Vintage ride already being fully sold out!

The ride has attracted some very interesting backing and support and the latest to realise the potential benefits is A Hume – Country Clothing from Kelso in the Scottish Borders. They are sponsoring the best dressed lady and best dressed gent this Sunday on what should be a fantastic day of cycling attire with the organisers suggesting outfits can range from the 1920’s to the 1980’s.

Sponsors of the best dressed lady and gent competition said: “A Hume Country Clothing are pleased to have the opportunity to be involved with the Velo Vintage in Devon event and are thrilled to be sponsoring the best dressed couple. We simply love the idea and think any excuse to dress with style and a little exuberate flair is always good. We are look forward to seeing the entrants and the lucky winners.”

As well as the best dressed gent and lady, there are competitions for the best hat and hair for ladies and the best moustache or sideburns for the gents. Sideburns were added to pick up on the Bradley ‘Wiggo’ Wiggins following! You can also decorate your bike and maybe win a prize!

Alistair Cope, spokesperson of the event said: “This is going to be a great fun day and I’d really encourage people to come along to see some fantastic bicycles of all ages and some wonderfully dressed riders”,

“If you’re in Exmouth on Sunday, we’re gathering in the Strand between 10.15 to 11am in the morning and then returning at about 2.30 pm for afternoon tea. It would be great to have a crowd to cheer the riders back and also to give the many riders who have travelled from all over the country a real Devon welcome”.
