Exmouth’s Park Hotel Golf Society’s season is reaching an exciting conclusion, writes Martyn Stevens.
The annual player of the year competition is being closely fought out by three members, Sean Ficken (69) Graham Miles (53) Colin Stevens (51).
October is the closing event of the season and it involves a trip to Downes Crediton.
The captain for the next year is to be Nigel Bolt with Martyn Stevens as vice captain.
The annual Trophy Presentation Night is being held at the Park Hotel, Exmouth on November 1, at 7pm. The president of the society, Fergal O’Neil will be presenting this year’s trophies. Amongst the recipients will Richard Govier who won the Ken Wicks Memorial at Bovey Castle from a strong field of 70 players.
Govier also claimed the Seve Trophy played at Tiverton. Sean Fricken will also be honoured as he won meetings at Woodbury Park and Lyme Regis.
The Park Golf Society is a friendly monthly meet to take part in various
competitions all around the south west.
It is run by Graham Miles and the committee with a brief to deliver an all-round fun day of which a high level of golf is always played. The society supports various charities throughout the year raising money on behalf of past members, and close friends and family. The ‘For Sue’ event this year raised a magnificent £3,000 for the cancer research South West Charity.
