Exmouth’s Jordan swims to gold medal at the Devon County Swimming Championship

16:37 25 February 2014

The Devon County Swimming Championship season has just kicked in and already an Exmouth swimmer has been making waves in the pool, writes Ian Lang.

The Championships are being held over several weekend’s at the Plymouth Life centre.

Liam Jordan, swimming in the 9u’s 200m breaststroke, came away with the gold medal by the narrowest of margins of 0.03 of a second!

Having broken his own club record in the semi-final, finishing second to Harry Pointer of Paignton, he then went on to pip the Paignton swimmer in the tense final. The pair were neck-and-neck for all but the last few feet over the 220m with Jordan touching home first in what turned out to be another club record.

In winning this event young Jordan became the club’s first county champion in several years.
