Whilst Saturdays downpours led to the cancelation of the Budleigh 1st XI home fixture with Bradninch, conditions for Sundays round of Community League matches were much improved, writes Kevin Curran.

The morning fixture saw The Robins team defeat the clubs Community League Youth Academy side.

This was followed by The Withy Dads getting back to winning ways with a victory over The Gentlemen team .

The early evening fixture proved a much tougher assignment for this seasons league newcomers Exmouth Rugby Club.

Playing against a much improved Taverners side, the rugby boys had to dig deep before eventually sealing an 11 run win.

Had it not been for a period of some erratic bowling giving too many extras away The Taverners could well have notched up their first victory of this seasons campaign!

The victory for the rugby team means they continue to sit top of the table.

This Sunday (July 6) there is more Community League action at Ottermouth.

There’s a 10.30am start for the match between The Doctors and The Robins.

This is followed by the meeting of The Feathers and Withy Dads at 1.30 pm with the final match between BSCC Youth Academy and table-topping Exmouth Rugby Club starting at 4.30pm.

This seasons Community League matches have fortunately been blessed with good weather. The club bar is open all today and there is ample free parking around the ground.

Weather permitting, Sunday should see another bumper attendance at Ottermouth.
