Exmouth completed an excellent weekend when they followed up Saturday’s thrilling last-over success at Plymouth by crushing Exeter to reach the final of the Devon Senior Cup.
Batting first the Maer men powered their way to an eye-catching total of 419-7 in their 40 overs!
All the batsmen made contributions.
David Lye was the star of the show as he smashed a 61-delivery 121 with 13 fours and eight 6s.
Sandy Allen (52 from 46), skipper Richard Baggs (51 from 40), Stuart Conway (38 from 17), Gary Chappell (35 from 30), Trevor Anning (35 from 11), Chris Metters (28 from 19) and the previous day’s batting hero, Lawrence Greenway (20 from 10), all got runs.
Exeter had no answer to such a total, despite the track at the Maer ground being a batsman’s paradise and they closed on 255-5.
There were single wickets for Chappell, Greenway, Anning, Tapper and Allen.
Exmouth will now meet then winner of next Sunday’s semi-final being played at Bovey Tracey where Plymouth meet Sidmouth.
