Exmouth II are now just 58 points short of returning to the top tier of the Francis Clark Devon league 2nd XI competition at the first time of asking after a 115-run win over Braunton.
Exmouth, who slipped out of the Premier Division last season, claimed an eleventh win in a dozen completed A Division matches.
Sam Conway was the star of the show in North Devon as he struck an excellent 81 whilst George Greenway chipped in with an unbeaten 62. There were other impressive contributions with Fin Marks hitting 41, Nicky Boult scored 25 and Donovan Robinson weighed in with 21 as Exmouth closed on 265-6.
Harry Conway then took charge with the ball, claiming 4-28.
Matt Tarry picked three wickets for 26 runs and Ollie Dawe bagged a brace at a cost of 30 runs.
The win was matched by title rivals Heathcoat II who banked a point less with their victory over relegation threatened Tavistock whist the third of the teams chasing promotion, Plymstock II were 19-run home winners over Bradninch II.
This Saturday Exmouth entertain fifth placed Hatherleigh II whilst Heathcoat visit Barton and Plymstock go to Tavistock.
If, as expected, all three teams win their respective games it will make the following weeks visit to Heathcoat for Exmouth the season-defining game!
