Ali Hill and Jack Westlake both returned to the squad that is growing in confidence as the season progresses.

A feature of the contest was that the Cockles produced no fewer than eight different try scorers.

It was the visiting side who struck first with a converted try after a line-out deep in Cockles territory.

The lead was short lived and the first home points were registered when hooker Mike Wilson got himself on the end of a catch-and-drive move.

The try was unconverted but the lead was soon taken when Jack Downie crossed in the corner and this time Powell’s conversion sailed between the posts to put the Cockles 10-5 up.

A huge pack was a key part of the Chippenham game plan and it certainly made for a hard-working first 40 minutes for the home side.

Both teams then struck with penalties and Powell nailed another penalty kick after the visitors had seen one of their number sent to the sin-bin.

The second half saw one-way traffic for much of the time. At times the interplay was the best of the season from the side with a mix of slick moves, outstanding defence and an as yet unseen killer instinct, and it all helped produce seven unanswered tries.

Jack Westlake and Ross Moorshead both went over for tries to put daylight between the two teams.

Powell and Jon Fabian combined prior to Tom Kill racing clear and this was followed swiftly by Paul Morgan crossing between the posts and then Powell showed a clean pair of heels to the visiting back line before converting his own try.

Jamie Harris then score his try after good approach play from Tom Elliot.

The final word was left to Powell who crossed for his second in the final minute and then completed the scoring with the conversion.
