The Exmouth Harriers boys were back in town last Saturday when three Exmouth Harriers veteran veterans travelled 120 miles west to the Overton five-mile road race, writes Dave Eveleigh.
There were nearly 500 competing including 13 men over 70, the category our local lads were competing in.
Just a few weeks ago Ray Elston missed out on an age group win by three seconds.
At this event he again just missed out on a category podium place (this time third Over-70) and by exactly the same margin.
Ray though left nearly 170, mostly younger, rivals behind as he finished 315th overall and comfortably inside eight minute mile pace with a 39:21 clocking. Mick Allen was still recovering from a heel injury but finished 405th overall and seventh in the age group in 43:41. Finishing eighth Man Over-70 was Les Turner who was 412th overall in 45:24.
