Exmouth Harriers husband and wife team, Jon and Lorraine Croome, headed to the eastern border of the county to take part in the Yarcombe Yomp, writes Ellie Sutcliffe.
With five and ten mile races on offer, (the 10 being two laps of the 5), both Harriers opted for the longer distance.
As with all off-road races in the East Devon area, hills and mud featured quite heavily.
This did not deter the pair who are no strangers to tough multi-terrain races, as they both placed top of their age categories on the day.
Jon came in fourth overall in a time of 1:23:07 and first man over 45, whilst Lorraine went one better, coming third female overall and first female over 45 in 1:38:29.
The overall winner’s time was 1:12:00, giving a good indication of just how tough this race is for the 10-mile distance.
There were only 48 finishers, disappointing, but perhaps a reflection on there being so many races in the area on the same weekend.
