Three Exmouth Harriers travelled to Yeovilton in Somerset looking for fast times on the flat and straight 5km course there, writes Dave Eveleigh.
Top of the pile was Ethiopian, Berihu Tesfay, who is again guesting for the Harriers while he is staying with Pete and Cathy Newman.
Berihu was part of their Wukro Running Project set up when they were living and working in the East African country.
Berihu had tougher competition than in Exeter a week earlier and he trimmed 10 seconds off his time then to record 14:46 in winning the race.
Berihu’s host Cathy is now an over-50 veteran, but as a former international was good enough to finish second female behind current international Kate Reed.
Cathy took 20 seconds from her recent Exeter 5k time to clock 18:42.
A regular at this series of races is Exmouth’s Roger Rowe who achieved a season’s best of 20:52 and was again first man over 65.
