Exmouth ABC announce a packed programme for the big March 8th fight night at Exmouth Pavilion.

09:33 13 February 2014

The Exmouth ABC show set for Saturday, March 8, took on an ever greater significance last week, writes Phil Crook.

Coming hot on the heels of the news that the club is to hosts the Western Counties schoolboy finals, featuring the finest young talent in the south west, is news that a number of mouth-watering supporting bouts have been lined up to complete the nights action.

Exmouth’s Josh Pender will again clash with Lympstone’s Jon Fenton-Harvey in a light welter weight contest.

Pender forced a second round stoppage when the pair met 18 months ago, but Fenton-Harvey has gained a lot of experience since then and is clearly out for revenge.

In the second of three cross town derbies, Lympstone light-heavy weight Sam Walkey makes a return to the ring after a 12-month lay off when he faces Exmouth’s Jamie Drummond. Cagey southpaw Walkey has proved a difficult man to beat, winning five of his six bouts to date, but Drummond posses power in both hands and an explosive contest is in prospect. Another boxer returning after a layoff is Lympstone marine Gary Robinson. A stocky individual who is always on the front foot, Robinson is set to meet Exmouth’s Matt Case.

The Exmouth man will need to use all of his undoubted defensive skills to triumph, but his fitness and determination won’t be in doubt in an even looking match.

Bouts are also being sought for super heavy weight Alex Barton, light heavy weight Lewis Mills, middle weight Ollie Jones and light weight Issac Swann. Hopefully opponents will have been found in time for next weeks Journal.

All tickets for the show, including ring side, are priced at £12 and are available on Wednesday night’s prior to the show at the club’s headquarters in New North Road (between 7pm and 8pm) and they will also be available on the doors at the Pavilion on March 8.
