For the first time in many years, Exmouth ABC is able to offer the crowd at the Pavilion tomorrow night (March 8), local interest in every one of the 14 bouts, writes Phil Crook.
The club has been blessed with an embarrassment of riches, because Exmouth’s Issac Swann couldn’t be found a suitable opponent and neither could Lympstone ABC brothers Callum and Connor Lester.
Not since the mid 1980’s has the famous old building seen such a line up of local punchers, many of whom will feature in the heavier weight divisions.
These big lads can all hit with power and one punch can quickly turn defence into attack and turn a bout on it’s head. The show also has a good mix of experienced boxers whilst also giving debuts to Lympstone’s Jack Silk and Exmouth’s Alex Barton, Lewis Mills, Tom Robins and Ollie Jones.
Matt Case’s eagerly anticipated light-heavy weight clash with Lympstone’s Sam Walkey is seen as the stand-out contest of the night and it should make for an excellent top of the bill.
Both lads will have a lot of support as they aim for the bragging rights that go with winning a local derby.
Noel Gatehouse steps into the unknown against Factory ABC’s Sam Mann. The Gloucester club are attending an Exmouth show for the first time and they are not seen in Devon very often, with their location meaning that a lot of the shows they attend are in the Midlands. Gloucester is a famous fighting City with three registered ABA clubs and their attendance will add even more spice to an already mouth watering bill. The remaining tickets, priced at £12, will be on sale on the door from 6.30 pm, with the action getting under way at 7.45 pm.
