In the semi-final Johnson found himself a 4-2 down and one set behind to Bournemouth’s James Schlater, but he staged a superb comeback to win the match 8-6 in the third set.
In a close contest it was Johnson’s high percentage of first serves that got him though and he served an ace to win the match.
The final saw Johnson take on number one seed Theo Purkis. Johnson out powered Purkis in the first set to take it 7-3 and then sealed a tremendous success with a 7-5 win to land the top honour.
Young Johnson is very grateful to his coach Liam Storey whilst Mum Jayne also plays a big part in his game with support both on, and off the court.
Coach Storey says: “I feel a huge round of thanks are due to the coaching team at Exmouth for all their input and help in Ben’s development. Thanks are also due to sponsors LDM, Bigwoods Agri and Landmark. Without their support coaches wouldn’t be able to attend tournaments and offer much needed coaching support to players competing throughout all ages and standards.”
