Exmouth Snooker League title for Police Social Club A

Police Social Club A wrapped up the Exmouth Snooker League Championship in the final round of fixtures, beating the defending champions, East Budleigh.

Needing a 5 frames to nil victory to retain their title, Alan Farrant won the opening frame, 81-41 to fan the flames of hope, but, a black-ball win for Pete Abrahams, 45-44, followed by Mike Delahaye, 79-22, Rob Pow, 55-25, and George Webster, 62-28, finally doused all of that for the Police A to clinch the Riley Shield by a seven points clear margin.

That single frame won by East Budleigh secures them the runners-up cup, despite the Police C beating the Number Nine by three frames to two.

Bob Alexander, 65-59, Trevor Haylock, 55-15 and John Anderson, 56-54, were denied second place by Tim Parker, 61-20, and Iain Callander, 73-68.

With the league programme now completed, players and teams now focus on cup competitions over the following weeks.

Already decided, Iain Callander has retained the Handicap Billiards beating John Sharland by 300 points to 246.

In the Pairs Snooker, Andrew and David Binmore beat Mike Delahaye and Rob Pow by two frames to nil.
