Local judo champs from John Goldman’s Exmouth Judo Centre gathered together at Exmouth Sports Centre for the annual awards evening.

On hand to award the prizes was Exmouth mayor, councillor Brian Cole and his wife Beryl.

Councillor Cole congratulated all the students praising them for their efforts, and, in particular their approach to their activity.

He said this would put them in good stead to becoming the future good citizens of Exmouth.

He thanked John and his daughter Ruth who have been running the club since 1978 for all they do for local youngsters.

In terms of the awards, the Pupil of the Term honour was presented to Sammy Shoobridge and the Effort award went to Yasmin Gillbride. The Etiquette sward was handed to Tom Price and Ryan Williams landed the Spirit of Judo honour. Mitchell Brockway was presented with the Competitor award and the Most Improved title was won by Ewan Willox.

The award for Pupil of the Year went to Monty Lee and the Team of the Year honour was presented to Crunchy Tomatoes.
