Exmouth Harriers continue to bag personal bests at the Killerton Parkrun events

PUBLISHED: 10:18 05 June 2014

Your correspondent produces a round-up of Exmouth Harriers performances at the Killerton Parkrun round about every six weeks and each time he takes a fresh look at the results it seems another high has been hit for the number of participants, the record now being well over 300, writes Dave Eveleigh.

On May 10, the event was without a single local Harrier as they all headed to Plympton for the Hope 24 hour run. However, there were some notable results for the club during the month or so before that though. Adam Miller recorded a first and three seconds and has been close to his course personal best a couple of times. Cathy Newman is over 50, but was nevertheless first in the female category overall three times, clocking between 19 and 20 minutes consistently. Jon Garitty has been churning out consistently impressive performances, finishing in the top ten and winning his over 40 age group three times. Andy Kennedy had a similar run of success in his over 50 age category, but also chalked up a new course personal best of 21:02. Jill Dupain also established a new PB of 43:52 while Nigel did the same with a 25:25 performance. Chris Dupain made it a family hat-trick of PBs when he completed the course in 19:28. Diane Richards set PBs in successive weeks and is now on 26:07. Pete Fletcher established a PB of 18:27. Ellie Sutcliffe was first woman in her one appearance with Mike Musgrove third in a competitive Over 45 Men’s group and Andrew Johnson second in the Men Over 50 category, also in one-off attendances. Gary Brailsford was timed at 22:24 on his debut. Carly Miller continues to run the event regularly and is closing in on the completion of half-a-million Parkrun metres. Roger Rowe is a cornerstone of the event and regularly completes it too. Perhaps Roger is the man to set Carly a new target by arranging a ‘Million Metres’ T-shirt for those who have completed 200 of these 5k runs!
