Exmouth Harrier Hannah Bown was in fine form at the latest Run Exe Summer Series 5k, writes Cathy Newman.

Hannah produced her fastest race of the year when, last Tuesday, she clinched the W35 title in the six race series, and did so just days before moving up into the F40 category!

Hannah completed her run in 19:54, finishing second female overall in the popular evening race that follows two loops of Exeter riverside park. This has increasingly become a must-do race for those seeking fast times and given the strong competition the results for Exmouth Harriers were remarkable.

The latest Run Exe meeting saw no fewer than seven Harriers land podium finishes!

Hannah’s category win was matched by three other club members.

Susan Hill won the F55 with the 49th fastest time in the UK for her category, whilst Hugh Marsden won the M55 and Des White took the honours in the M60.

Dawn Teed and Alison White both took overall second place in their respective F55 and F60 categories and Andrew Johnson was third M50.

The end of the summer series marks the start of the cross-country season with the regional Westward League beginning in October.

Entries are now also open for the club’s main event, which is the Bicton Blister with the 2018 meeting being held on Sunday, November 25.

The Bicton Blister, for those not aware of it, is an off-road race around Woodbury Common that starts at Bicton College.

In other news, there was yet another impressive run from Tom Merson in the latest Exmouth Parkrun.

Tom is gearing up for the Cardiff Half Marathon next month, and looks in good form.
