Exmouth Archers make that first cut on a new development

PUBLISHED: 21:21 08 January 2014 | UPDATED: 21:21 08 January 2014

After years of fund raising Exmouth Archers are about to begin building the first phase of their new indoor range.

This is the first purpose-built indoor archery range in Devon and Cornwall and has only been possible because its members have fund raised tirelessly to achieve it.

They hold four very successful car boot sales a year, ‘Have A Go’ sessions for interested groups in the community and tournaments that attract archers from all over the country. Unfortunately, the club is still short of funds to put down an insulated floor and heat the building, but the archers will at least be able to shoot in the dry.

The indoor range has been designed with wood cladding to resemble a traditional barn and should blend into its countryside setting nicely.

The building contractor is Fingle Farm Buildings of Drewsteignton.

Jane Morrish who along with her late husband David were instrumental in pushing the project forward, Phill Carder (chairman), John Russell (project manager) and many of the members of Exmouth Archers who have made it possible got together for a photograph recently at the ground breaking ceremony to mark the start of work on site.
