The Exeter and District Youth League secretary Russ Murch is keen to remind teams that cup matches take priority over league games and therefore the matches washed out last Saturday must be played, where possible, this coming Saturday.
Out of 48 cup ties across six age groups last weekend just six were played meaning wholesale changes to the fixture list this coming Saturday.
The situation across the league sees Tedburn St Mary Under-11s with the most games still to play; they have completed just six of a 24 game programme and so must negotiate 18 more matches in the remaining 15 weeks between now and the final match day of the league season at the end of April.
Other teams with plenty of matches to fit in include Under-14 Division Two side’s Crediton Saints and Crediton Youth who both have 16 to play. Under-11 Division One side Heavitree Tornadoes who also have 16 to play as do four Under-11 Division Two teams, Feniton, West Exe Warriors, St Martins and Newton, whilst Under-13 Division Three side Exmouth Town have 14 left to play.
In all 46 out of the 159 teams playing across the six age groups from Under-11 to Under-16 in 16 Division’s have completed half their programmes.
That leaves a whopping 113 teams still to reach half way of a season that has now been running for 18 weeks and has just 15 to play with the weather bound to impact further between now and April’s end!
