Exe Table Tennis Club begins a new season next month, writes Richard Wellington.
The campaign begins on Tuesday, September 10 at the Exmouth Community College upper site sports hall.
All existing junior and adult members are invited along for the first night which runs from 7pm to 10pm.
The club are running the first session as an ‘Open Evening’ and invite all-comers to a free session from 7.30pm through to 9pm.
The club is open to all ages from nine years and upward and all abilities, from complete beginner to experienced league players, are catered for.
Bats and balls will be available and the robot set up. Coaches and experienced players will be on hand to teach the basic rules and set up games.
The club hopes to attract a few more female players this year and run mixed doubles competitions.
Coaching is available for club junior members from resident head coach, Howard Back, throughout the year and the popular junior league will run from the second or third week of the season.
Several tournaments will be organised throughout the year and the club hopes to play games against rival clubs from Exeter and Ottery St Mary.
It is planned to set up the ‘Robot’ every few weeks with chairman Paul Humphries running coaching sessions for both the adults and juniors.
