Sunday saw the club’s second Novice Fun Horse and Dog Show at Nutwell Court.

Despite there being two sporting finals on the day, the show was fairly well attended. Again, it attracted riders who had not ridden at such an event previously.

Despite nerves, they soon settled into the various showing and show jumping classes and thanks to the expertise and advice of the judges, finished the day with smiles and vowing to come back next year.

There was a class for every dog in the show’s dog show, even a scruffiest dog class alongside the prettiest bitch and handsomest dog class, so all went home with a rosette and doggie treats.

Finally, we thank Nigel and Paula Lee for allowing us to use the lovely venue of Nutwell and our sponsors King’s Garden and Leisure, and Graham Sykes Insurance. Thank also extended to Mr and Mrs Davidson and Milmos for prizes and vouchers and to all who helped in any way.

This event brings to an end the club’s competitive events.

However, on Sunday, August 5, a 10-mile Summer Pleasure Ride is to take place across Woodbury Common with riders being welcomed with a cream tea. For further information on this and other events, please go to www.exe-equestrian.co.uk or telephone 07971 260269.
