Archant

Thirty three members of the seniors section joined seniors’ captain Tony Mackness at his Away Day at Dainton Park on the final Thursday of August, writes Paul Willoughby.

Despite heavy rain on the previous day, sunshine and a strong breeze greeted the players on the first tee.

The team of Brian Welch, Alan Foort and Mike Ingham took the honours with a score of 82 on count back from Jeff Bartlett, Bob Bryant and Derek Carmichael.

John Pulman took the prize for the longest drive and Peter De la Mare was nearest the pin on the difficult eighth hole.

The day was rounded off by an excellent meal and prize giving.
