East Budleigh warmed up for the new football season last Saturday with a 2-2 draw against Fluxton, writes Mark Auton.
It was the visitors who drew first blood to lead at the interval in what was a good test for Budleigh who used a mix of first and second team players in both halves.
Andy Case struck the bar from a free-kick, but it was Dan Atkinson who kept his composure well to score a brace of well taken goals in the second period.
In between the away side had gone in front for a second time, but a draw was probably the right result.
There is a busy start to the campaign at Vicarage Road with five games in the first eight days!
Things kick-off with the senior side entertaining Tipton St John on Saturday (August 24), and then Newton Poppleford on Wednesday (August 28) before a Saturday, August 31 meeting with Heavitree United.
Meanwhile the Reserves start their season on bank holiday Monday (August 26) against Honiton Town, before hosting the same Fluxton side on Friday, August 30 in a Division Six encounter.
It promises to be a good season for East Budleigh with a number of young prospects adding depth to the squads.
