Amory Green Rovers 4, East Budleigh Reserves 5
East Budleigh Reserves booked their place in the next round of the Football Express Cup thanks to a quadruple from Joe Rosser in a nine goal thriller, writes Mark Auton.
The home side began the better and some sloppy defending saw them take a two goal lead, but Budleigh continued in positve style; Tom Christian went close with a cheeky chip, Dan Atkinson headed against a post from Si Pearce centre, before Colin Jeans threaded a pass through for Rosser whose tight finish reduced the arrears at half-time.
Budleigh like to do things the hard way and went two behind again leaving keeper Mark Bown exposed, before making their comeback; Rory Waite, Ben Wilks and Rich Pratt all involved in setting up Rosser who tucked away his second.
Pearce was peppering the hosts goalmouth with some pinpoint deliveries and when Pratt chested the ball down Ben Wyatt side footed home.
Joel Rendall came into the action for Budleigh and looked lively, but in a topsy-turvy half Amory lobbed themselves ahead 4-3. Back came Budleigh who levelled again thanks to Rosser and the creativity of Atkinson.
With extra-time looming Rosser completed his Man of the Match display with his 4th and Budleigh’s fifth, leaving the crowd to eventually come up for air.
This Saturday Budleigh will look for a similar result when they visit Exwick Village in the Intermediate Cup (2pm).
