East Budleigh 4, Colyton 1

This was a much needed victory for East Budleigh who returned to winning ways with a comfortable three points against Colyton thanks to a brace of Jack Howarth goals and solitary strikes from Si Tuley and Dave Evans, writes Mark Auton.

Budleigh were the better side, but still had to rely on keeper Rob Dance to make some top drawer saves including a penalty kick.

Player-manager Spencer West laid on the opener for Howarth to coolly lob the visiting keeper before Tuley added the second before the interval, beating his marker to find the top corner with another accomplished finish.

The second period began similarly to the first, Howarth presented with a one-on-one chance that he gratefully accepted.

The away side did grab a consolation, but within minutes Budleigh had restored their three goal cushion; A double change saw Evans and Darren Everest replace Adam Jones and Dan Reynolds respectively and it was Evans on his welcome return to the side that rounded the keeper to wrap up the victory.

For Budleigh the Man of the Match award went to captain Phil Page.

This Saturday Budleigh will look for another three points when they visit Alphington.
