East Budleigh 0, Bow 0
Despite the blank score sheet this was an excellent hard working point for an East Budleigh side against highflying Bow, writes Mark Auton.
Budleigh had to soak up a lot of pressure at times, but their defence of Steve Hitchcock, Phil Page, Andy Case and Matt Jones stood firm.
On the flanks both Adam Jones and Alex Manning were also called upon to give their all in both halves whilst Mike White and Dan Reynolds battled away in the midfield engine room.
Man of the Match went to player manager Spencer West who held the ball up well alongside fellow striker Josh Whiller.
First half opportunities were sparse; White was Budleigh’s most creative, whilst Bow missed a glorious chance after 20 minutes, Budleigh keeper Mark Bown handled well when called upon.
Seven minutes into the second half a long Adam Jones throw saw West flick on and White hooked his shot over before the visitors wasted another gilt edged chance on the hour.
Budleigh sent on Ben Rowland, Jack Howarth and Dan Atkinson in the closing stages; Rowland had a free-kick saved and when Atkinson and Howarth combined to find Manning at the far post his effort hit the side-netting.
There was still time for Bown to block another Bow effort as both sides were left with a point a piece. Budleigh have no fixture this Saturday.
