East Budleigh 0, Sidbury 3

This was a bad day at the office for East Budleigh who never got going against second place Sidbury last Saturday, writes Mark Auton.

Budleigh started sluggishly and were two down after 24 minutes and it would have been three but for the offside flag.

Budleigh gradually picked themselves up, but half chances for Jack Howarth and Ben Rowland were as good as it got.

Sidbury continued to have the better of the game in the second half, but Budleigh did settle the ship a little with Dan Reynolds working his socks off in the centre.

The introduction of Alex Manning saw Budleigh produce the best cross of the game, unfortunately for the challenging Dan Atkinson the ball was cleared against him and out for a goal kick.

Budleigh keeper Rob Dance made a fine save down low to his left, but a third for the away side sealed Budleigh’s fate a quarter of an hour from time.

Mike White went close late on when his dipping volley went marginally over for a Budleigh side who may ring the changes in search of a much needed morale boosting win at Newton Poppleford on Saturday.
