East Budleigh 1, Elmore 4
The league leaders were the visitors to Vicarage Road last Saturday and left with all three points confirming why they are holding that top spot, writes Mark Auton.
Budleigh began brightly and had the better of the opening quarter, but were unable to grab the elusive first goal.
Unfortunately for Budleigh keeper Rob Dance failed to hold a cross and the away side duly took the lead.
Budleigh sloppily conceded possession to allow the Tiverton side to go two ahead, before Budleigh reduced the arrears before the break.
Jack Howarth produced a good run before whipping in a cross that was only cleared as far as Dan Atkinson who slotted the rebound into the net.
Budleigh grafted hard in the second half, but too often gave the ball back to their opponents cheaply; Dance redeemed himself with a couple of top drawer saves, but two further goals for the away side confirmed their superiority.
Adam Jones was Budleigh’s best performer on the day for a Budleigh side that will look to produce better when they host Sidbury on Saturday.
