Bicton got the second half of their netball winter season underway with a 12 goal victory over Assent, writes Louise Passmore.
After a long and generally most indulgent festive break both teams made the expected sluggish start!
Goals were at a premium in the early exchanges, but gradually Bicton found their feet and the goal count began to rise with the first quarter ending with Assent trailing 18-8.
Assent shooters were accurate, but the slick Bicton defence kept the opportunities to a minimum with much of that down to Rachael Cotton picking off the overhead passes.
By half time the Bicton advantage had grown to 28-15 with a feature of the play the sweet rhythm coming from centre court.
Sally Eade at GD and Killer Kilburn at centre got continual good ball into both Anya Kilburn and Stacey Cain in the circle, and the latter pair both showed clinical finishing skills.
The Assent defence rallied in the third quarter with Hannah Chiswell at WD putting in a fine shift to deservedly earn the Assent Player of the Match award.
It was however, Bicton who led from start to finish, closing out a 51-31 victory.
Sally Eade was named the winners Player of the Match.
