Dorman double in Lympstone stroll to victory

Lympstone 5, Offwell Rangers 2

Lympstone were clearly happier in the heavy condition as they comfortably bagged an eighth win of the Fresha League Division Three season.

In a high tempo start the Lympets were ahead when Andy Lowe slipped the ball under the visiting keeper and a second goal arrived courtesy of a glancing Jeff Dorman header from a 25th minute corner.

Rangers tried to respond, but got little change out of Bowden, Hobbs, Hindmarch and Porter who provided a very solid back line for their team.

The visitors began the second half with more intent and halved the deficit in the early exchanges.

The two goal advantage was quickly restored as Mark Dunne ran through one-on-one and, when his effort was kept out by the keepers’ leg, it fell to Dave Whipp who looked up and delivered a precise pass for Dorman to head home at the far post.

Fresh legs were then introduced with Hayden Figures making a real nuisance of himself.

His direct running was too much for the visiting back line and the substitute, relishing his opportunity after a spell in the reserve team, struck two goals to put :the Lympets in total control.

Offwell had the last word with a late second goal. The Lympets Man of the Match award was won by Chris Hindmarch, part of that splendid Lympstone back line.

This Saturday the side travel to Tedburn St Mary where victory, combined with favourable results elsewhere could see the Lympets top of the table come full-time!
