Dick and Baker emerge on top in EBU Simultaneous Pairs competition

Exmouth Bridge Club held a heat of the EBU Simultaneous Pairs competition, with very testing hands, writes Carla Pickering.
Jan and Trevor Stokes were equal top with Terry Cannon and Phil Palmer scoring 58.85 per cent.
When the performances on each board were compared with other results nationally, however, John Dick and Gordon Baker were the top pair in the club with 57.35 per cent.
Jan and Trevor Stokes were second with 55.97 per cent.
Thursday saw the first session of the popular Winter League, with twelve teams of four in two divisions.
In the First Division Refourmed and Temp won convincingly, while last year’s winners, The New Deal, narrowly lost to Shelagh’s Acolytes.
In Division 2 The Mob, Marauders and Luce Cannons won their first matches.
