The Madeira Ladies' Pairs winners

The Madeira Ladies Pairs tournament was held and much enjoyed by the participants, happily in good weather.

It was supported by teams from Seaton, Uffculme. Phear Park, Axminster, Abbrook Park, Kingsteignton, Sidmouth, Lyme Regis and as far away as Ardagh and GB Britton (the latter two hailing fro Bristol).

It was a little disappointingly that the numbers were down a little on previous years.

It was played in two sections and in Section A no team won all four games.

In Section B, three teams from Madeira won four games and eightpoints, but counting back on shot difference the clear winners were Norma Cureton and Ann Doidge with 41.

Those in second and third places respectively were Nicky Fiddimore and Dee Williams with 21 and Vee Bevan and Josie Glaister with 16.

Margaret Priscott and Sheila Rixon from Abbrook Park/Kingsteignton just lost out on the prizes.

Having won three games they drew their last one to achieve fourth place with seven points and 34 shot difference.

The ladies taking part appreciated the many men who helped in the kitchen, providing lunch and tea for all to ensure the day was as successful as it was.
