Aiden Pring and Sam Warren, both of Topsham St James CC, whiohave recently qualified as UKCC Level Two Coaches and will now join the other coaches and assistant coaches with the Friday night Colts training sessions which get underway for another season later this month.

Topsham St James Cricket Club is proud to announce that for the forthcoming season they will have two extra UKCC Level Two Coaches helping the other coaches and assistant coaches with the Friday night Colts training sessions, writes Sheila Harding.

Aiden Pring and Sam Warren have both been at the club for over 10 years, having graduated up through the various age groups. Now they both regularly turn out for the club’s 1st XI, which provides strong evidence that the set-up at the club works well.

Several sessions of indoor nets for both adults and older colts have taken place using the facilities at Exeter School, and the first ‘friendly’ match against Feniton is scheduled for mid-April.

Thereafter, there will be two more matches against Hatherleigh and Budleigh, before the various leagues start in early May.

Topsham St James CC is a friendly, community-based club that caters for players of all ages and abilities, and there are plenty of opportunities for everyone to play cricket at various levels as well as participating as a coach, junior team manager, umpire, scorer, etc.

In addition to our men’s and ladies’ 1st XIs, the club has a men’s 2nd XI, a Sunday team and a midweek T20 side.

There are also some 150 boys and girls under the age of 15 who play in matches and train on Fridays while their parents enjoy socialising and taking advantage of the bar and barbecue.

The club is very lucky to have had Wilkinson Grant as their main sponsors for the past four years as they are particularly keen to help develop young cricketers.

The adult teams are sponsored by Sidney Pratt (Builders) and support is also provided by Southernhay Dental Practice and Buildbase (Exmouth).

Without this sponsorship and the support of all the businesses who advertise in the handbook, it would not be possible to maintain subscriptions at an affordable level or for the club to be run at the standard which people have come to expect and is recognised by the Clubmark accreditation which has been held for the past nine years.

Registration Evening for both adults and colts from Year Two takes place in the clubhouse at Bonfire Field, Exeter Road, on Monday, April 23, from 5.30-8pm. Thereafter, the ladies will train on Wednesdays, the men on Thursdays and the colts on Fridays.
