Since a July 21 win over relegation-threatened Hatherleigh, the Maer men have lost three on the spin, going down to Plymouth, Exeter and now by seven wickets to a Sandford side that are still four points from safety with two games left to play.

Exmouth are comfortably safe in mid-table and they can pass 200 points for the campaign with victory at third bottom Bradninch this Saturday (August 25).

After winning the toss at Creedy Park, skipper Callum French decided to bat, but only four of the Maer men got into double figures as they were bowled out for 170 in one ball shy of 48 overs.

French top scored with 45 and the other double figure contributions came from Billy Rudolph (39), George Greenway (24) and Luke Davies (13).

Sandford lost only three wickets in their successful run chase, one that lasted just 36 overs.

Billy Rudolph (2-34 in eight) and skipper French (1-40 in seven) were the Exmouth wicket takers.
