The Kings Arms became Budleigh Community League Champions for the first time since 2006 with victory against the Withy Dads in Sunday’s final at the Ottermouth, writes Kevin Tyrell.

The two finalists had earlier secured solid semi-final victories against the Budleigh C C Youth Academy and The Wannabes to set up the final which attracted a large bank holiday crowd.

Some fine bowling and smart fielding from the Kings Arms saw them restrict the Withy Dads to 87 runs, a total they chased down with overs and wickets to spare.

The Withy Dads have now been beaten finalists in each of the last three years and must be wondering what they have to do to get their names on the trophy.

The Doctors lifted the Community League Plate with a well deserved victory against the Gentlemen in Monday’s play-off match.

The whole competition was played in the very best of spirits and was largely blessed with fine weather and it’s hoped that all teams return to do battle once again in 2018.
