Exmouth third eleven had a player who very nearly bowled his way through the entire card last weekend.

The veteran Greg Marks spun his way to extraordinary figures of nine wickets for just 13 runs.

What’s more he also had a hand in the only other Kenn 2nd XI wicket to fall as he held onto a smart slip catch to help 12-year-old Luke Davies to a wicket.

Earlier another of the Maer ground veterans, Julian Page scored 102 before retiring with his wicket intact as he and Roger Wensley (68) put on 135 runs. Fourteen-year-old Ryan Schaefler then slammed a quick-fire 31 including two 6s as Exmouth III closed on 244-5.

The Kenn reply floundered to leave Exmouth top of the fledgling 2nd XI E Division East table.
