Gary Chappell and Ollie Dawe bowled in tandem to nail a fivefer between them and see Exmouth to a 48-run Maer ground win over Bovey Tracey in a Francis Clark Devon League Premier contest reduced to 42-overs per side by the weather.

The home side batted first and were indebted to a magnificent knock from Seb Benton that saw him strike a sublime 87-ball 104. Skipper Richard Baggs (28) and Bob Dawson (26) were the only other batsmen to make meaningful contributions as the Maer men were bowled out for 215 in the 39th over.

Matt Webb (2-19) and Trevor Anning (0-17) bowled six overs each before David Lye sent down another six taking 1-35.

Young Dawe was second change and Chappell third change and the pair claimed the last five wickets to fall with Bovey Tracey eventually closing on 128-9 after their 42 overs.
