Topsham St James Under-14s were beaten by 36 runs at Heathcoat.

It was always going to be tough against one of the league’s top teams but the Saints were also guilty of conceding far too many extras, bowling 28 wide’s and also conceding 15 byes.

The best bowlers were Tom Sage and Ryan Darke who deservedly shared the two wickets that were taken as the home side closed on 161-2.

Fraser Chave served up the best innings of the reply with a nine boundary unbeaten 47 – that the highest individual score by a Saints Under-14 player this season.

Sam Thomas and Tom McShane both hit boundaries as the tail wagged and skipper Alex Davison saw the Saints to a final batting point with an unbeaten 24.
