Budleigh CC celebrate the season with Carter named 2nd XI Player of the Year

Budleigh Cricket Club staged their 2012 senior section awards to honour the individual feats of the season.
The night saw James Burke crowned as the top batter with his 44 average throughout the campaign.
The 1st XI bowling honour was shared between skipper Joel Murphy and Bobby Dawson and the same two players were jointly voted as the Budleigh CC Player’s Player of the Year trophy winners.
The 2nd XI awards went to Ben Carter who won landed both batting and the Players Player honour.
The second eleven bowling award was jointly won by Matt Murphy and James Plowman.
The trophy for the Most Improved player went to Lloyd Murrin whilst the prestigious Clubman of the Year trophy was most deservedly won by Bob Gooch who yet again single-handedly rewired the club without cost ,following the early July flood!
Thank you gifts and flowers were presented to Sally Leat, Fran Richardson, Tracey Keast and Carole Spalding for there special efforts and contribution during a difficult season.
Chairman Neil Rice also took the opportunity to pay tribute to The Devon Cricket Board and in particular senior officials Matt Theedom and Jim Wood for their help in supporting the club since the flood and in helping in our negotiations with The England and Wales Cricket Board to secure funding towards a new drainage system that we were anxious to have installed prior to the start of next playing season.
