Budleigh Salterton took two Under-10 teams to Ottery St Mary for a couple of matches.

Having beaten both Ottery A and B earlier in the season with just one team on duty Budleigh travelled with two completely separate teams to see if the strength in depth in the squad would see them through.

Ottery were generous hosts for a couple of enjoyable contests that produced one win and a narrow defeat.

In the opening game, one that started at 9am, the Otters were given a flying start thanks to some solid hitting from Jack Garner and Kishan Prasad. There were also impressive debut knocks from from Chloe and Luka Annan as well as a strong partnership from Zoe Aitken and Grace Gillingham in a total of 71.

The bowling was less successful, but the last pair bowling could have won the game with any ball in the last two overs of the match as the home team claimed a single wicket success.

Next up, against a fairly similar Ottery side, Budleigh posted a total of 72 that saw major contributions from Findlay Cotton and Harvey Shipton.

In the Ottery reply all the Budleigh bowlers had success in restricting runs, including debutants Leo Wood, Ella Crowhurst, Alex Turner and Findlay Aust.

The last bowling pair of Kishan Prasad and Nate James this time had more joy with their last four overs that produced three wickets.

This all left Ottery closing on a score of minus five runs to leave Budleigh comfortable winners.

Budleigh pairings. Game One: Jack Garner and Kishan Prasad, Zoe Aitken and Grace Gillingham, Luka Annan and Ned Mills, Chloe Annan and Alex James.

Game Two: Harvey Shipton and Findlay Cotton, Leo Wood and Findlay Aust, Ella Crowhurst and Alex Turner, Kishan Prasad and Nate James.
