Budleigh went down by six wickets on their visit to Brixham and that was a first defeat of the Francis Clark League season for the Ottermouth men.

Batting first in conditions that suited the bowlers, Budleigh were bowled out in 39.5 overs for 122.

Elliot Rice hit a splendid half century. He opened the innings and when he was out in the 34th over he had hit 54 of the teams 117-5 total.

A couple of overs previously Budleigh had been going along nicely and were 114-3 at the end of the 28th over.

However, wickets began to tumble and the last five went down inside six overs with just five runs being added to the total.

Rice apart, only Rob Craze (22) managed to score a double figure knock and there were no fewer than four batsmen with ducks in the score book at the close of the innings.

Luke Peterson opened the bowling and he sent down his nine overs taking one wicket for 25 runs.

Lloyd Murrin opened with Peterson but his four overs went tor 28 and that led to a change with Craze coming on to send down his full complement of ten overs and talking one wicket for 43 runs.

Skipper Murphy was the only other bowlers used; he took 1-20 in 6.3 overs.

Brixham got home for then loss of just four wickets and in 30 overs to ensure a bad day at the office for Murphy’s men.
