While Hatherleigh were losing for the fourth time in five weeks, Budleigh banked 18 points from a 90-run win at Lewdown to close the gap between the Ottermouth men and a coveted promotion spot (currently held by Hatherleigh) to 23 points.
Budleigh batted first at Lewdown and, with Elliot Rice and Matt Junk both contributing knocks of 40, managed to reach 165 before losing their final wicket.
However, if a sub 200 score was any concern to the travelling faithful, then any fears were quickly dispelled as Phil Anning, with five wickets for 20 runs and Trevor Anning, with figures of 2-10, combined to bundle the home side for just 77.
While 23 points is still a lot to claw back over the final three games, Budleigh do have a chance still.
What they must do, is get 24 more points from their last three than Hatherleigh manager in theirs
This Saturday (August 19), Budleigh host Cornwood while Hatherleigh visit Chudleigh.
The following Saturday (August 26), Budleigh travel to Chudleigh while Hatherleigh entertain Plymstock and then, on the final Saturday of the season (September 2), Budleigh are at home to Plympton while Hatherleigh visit Lewdown.
