Withycombe combined their under-9 squad for two games against Kingsbridge.
The conditions underfoot were very difficult for the players as the mid-morning thaw produced plenty of mud for the players to negotiate!
The first game saw Kingsbridge dominate from the first whistle and they were quickly into an early lead.
Withy were consistently forced onto the back foot in the first half, succumbing to repeated lost possession through poor handling and counter rucking.
The half ended with Withycombe eventually finding their feet and they did strike just before the break with a well constructed try with Will Jones the scorer, to go into half-time trailing 3-1.
It was Withy who started the brighter after the break. However they were up against a well drilled side that tackled well.
Kingsbridge seized control in the latter stages and it was thanks to some terrific Withy defence that just two more Kingsbridge were tries were scored.
Will Cornish was named Man of the Match for another good all-round contribution that saw him consistently making ground and taking the ball into contact
