Exmouth United 4, Pinhoe Pikes 3
United Under-14s moved into the last eight of the Exeter and District KO Cup with a thrilling victory in a close encounter with the Exeter-based visitors.
Pinhoe struck first, netting from a corner, but parity was swiftly restored when Harry Ottaway tucked away a penalty after he had been hauled down in the area.
Another corner saw the visitors regain the lead, but once again United levelled quickly, this time with Man of the Match Tom Cooke rifling home a sweet shot from fully 30-yards.
Another shot from distance saw the Pikes take the lead for the third time, but again the lead was short lived as Cooke left fly with his right foot to rocket another shot past the visiting keeper to send the teams into the break locked at 3-3.
In the second half there was just the one further goal, but no lack of action at either end of the pitch. United passed the ball well in this period and, after Max Reader, Joe Burnett and Jack Silvester had all gone close it was young Cooke who booked his sides place in the quarter finals with the teams goal of the season to date, a 30-yard strike that soared over the head of the visiting glovesman before nestling in the back of the net.
