Malvern 10, Exmouth 39
Tom Kill struck a brace of tries as Exmouth opened their National Three (South West) season with a convincing victory at Malvern.
Dave Bargent went over for the first Cockles’ try of the new term and the conversion was tucked away by Andrew Powell.
The second try was a sweeping move with Powell, Ross Moorshead and Dave Kimberley all involved prior to Kill crossing for his first, and again Powell notched the extras.
The hosts then got on the score sheet with a penalty only for Exmouth to power home two further tries through George Savage and Adam Garner to lead handsomely at the break.
Malvern were first to score in the second half, but it did not take the Cockles long to take charge once more and Powell and Jon Fabian combined to send Kill over for his second try. The final word was had by Glen Channing who marked his debut with a smart run from 30-metres out to complete the scoring.
