Clyst St George recorded the result of the day amongst local sides in the Francis Clark Devon League to boost their chances of beating the drop.
The Bohea Field men, whilst aiding their hopes of staying up, also put a nail into the chances of Ipplepen climbing out of the C Division as they beat the visitors by 39 runs.
Chris Ferro continued his fine form with the bat, top scoring with an unbeaten 81 and the best of the rest came from the bat of Chris Cook who struck 49 whilst Steve Bourke chipped in with 33.
A home total of 252-6 was competitive, and also good enough to win as the Bohea Field bowler got to work!
Ipplepen, needing to win to stay in touch with second placed Axminster, were bowled out for 213.
Bourke completed a fine all-round shift with 4-19 and Jim Welland bagged 3-62 and there was a brace of wickets from Mike Johnson.
With second bottom Yelverton banking seven points fro a defeat at Plymouth Civil Service and Roborough it means that Clyst St George now sit level with Yelverton at the foot of the table. Both sides have 128 points with third bottom Plymouth Civil Service and Roborough 13 points better off with four to play.
Clyst travel to Ottery St Mary on Saturday. The Otters lost last time out, their first defeat in six matches.
Fellow strugglers Yelverton are home to fourth placed Kingsbridge and Plymouth Civil Service and Roborough visit Chagford.
After this Saturday’s game Clyst St George host Chagford and then travel to champions-in-waiting Bideford before ending their season with a home game against Plymouth Civil Service and Roborough.
